Hey remember in Sonic the Comic when Robotnik sent out trooper Badniks to capture random civilians for no reason and sent them to who knows where to do slave labor and/or be roboticized which included children being kidnapped as well?

Coupled with Nik's contributions to Sonic Retro and his work on UK mag Retro Gamer, it feels more than appropriate to share this news here and offer condolences to any others who will miss this inspirational dude 🌀⭐️

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that our colleague Nick Thorpe passed away on Monday. He was an incredibly lovely person, a talented writer and an essential part of the magazine.
Our thoughts go out to all his friends and family at this difficult time.

Lastly some people have noticed some references, but I don’t think anyone has picked up most of the (intentionally very vague) stuff I put in the final panel. The shots of my iPad photo album show some of the other things I considered trying to work in but figured they’d be too obvious and rejected

Behind him the Death Egg is about blow up after being hit by a huge ass laser beam coming from the center of the Floating Island. In between there's a squad of Egg Robos chasing and firing at Sonic. Sonic sez: "Man, looks like it's all over for the Death Egg! But it doesn't look like I'm going to be around to celebrate, cause it's a LONG WAY DOWN! " Emperor Metallix, a giant red menacing looking Metal Sonic with amazing shading Sonic and Knuckles deep down inside the Lava Reef Zone, the Death Egg looming from atop, sitting on the crater's opening. Sonic: "....Closer than you think!" Knux: "I don't believe it! Robotnik has the Death Egg sitting right on top of the volcano!" Sonic arriving at Never Lake. Behind the lake there's a mountain with Robotnik's face carved in, connected to a gianormous chain tethering it to a small planet above with an entirely metallic surface and huge flame pits spewing out giant flames. Sonic: "What the...? That's the Miracle Planet! What on Mobius is happening here?"

My dear friend Thalia ( @swirlymuse.bsky.social ) sadly passed away early last month.

Her parents have asked me to say thank you everyone for your friendship to her over the years.

She was the kindest and best friend I could have ever asked for, and I will miss her dearly.
A picture I drew for my friend's parents, to celebrate her. It has a central ammonite fossil, surrounded by ferns, pencils, a sonic keychain, a beetle, a magpie feather and a cat paw. This is the unfinished version, the finished one is with her parents.

The team is deeply saddened to share the news that Sonic the Comic Online veteran Hume, Thalia Evans, has passed away after a long battle with cancer.
Thalia was part of the team from the very beginning, providing the cover and Tails strip for our first issue, STC #224 in May 2003.
