Wrangles code and dodges protein for a living (PKU).
I know a few folks in the #phenylketonuria community have played around with the egoo health pku bloodspot monitoring device, and I was wondering how you found it? Was it accurate? Easy to use? Would you recommend it?

Watched two films in the cinema today:

* Nobody 2 - a great, fun, silly action film with a lot of humour. I really enjoyed this one.
* Eddington - I thought it was really long and boring. It had a lot of political snipes, but apparently the film was about something bigger.

Just came from the cinema watching Materialists.

I think it was okay. The problem though is the movie is running on vibes, and there isn't enough plot to carry the film. Most of the time it is just long shots with music to communicate how you should feel.

Wait for streaming.

Just saw two films that I need to talk about:

The Naked Gun (Liam Neeson one) - Honestly this film was such a joy. Just jokes after jokes after jokes. There was a part in the middle where it had me grinning like a silly little child. A true feel-good movie that I can pretty much recommend.

Gotta love the fact that as War of the Worlds is trending thanks to the terrible Amazon remake, Netflix is now showing the 2005 version and it's reached #8 in the UK 🤣

I don't know what it is with Amazon Prime films, but they really aren't worth watching the vast majority of the time.

I'm watching The Pickup and I get that this film is trying to tell jokes, but man they just aren't landing at all...

I'm watching War of the Worlds on Amazon Prime since I've heard nothing but absolutely terrible things about it, and honestly it feels like an ad for Windows 11 & Teams more than anything.

FWIW, I'm not even halfway through and I'm already tired of it.

Why did our friends stop posting on social media?

A really good article about how things have slowed down on the social media front. I have noticed this *a lot* in myself and my friends.

Just tried using the Mevalia rice and it's the one for me (an old photo of the rice with veggies).

For one I have freedom in cooking the rice (I cook it in water with vegetable stock cube mixed for added flavour). Another reason is I can taste each rice grain.

With the PKU real rice, I gave the second packet a try (sorry, forgot to take pictures) - this time I boiled it.

It seemed to be better, the rice was still sticky though. I think to me, that's my real problem with the rice - it is far too sticky for my liking. Not for me sadly.

So I've just tried to join up to a book club where I live via Plot Twist Book Club (plottwistbookclub.com)

I registered on Monday, and just a few minutes ago I've got an email from Paypal telling me they've effectively cancelled the monthly payment on my card?

What is going on?

Experience shows people super helpful or super unhelpful. No middle ground. I should learn. 12 year old offered not to eat anything. #pku
Rubbish pku experience today. Local eatery. Nothing 12 year old can eat. Previously taken a fast food chips option with us without issue. Today very unsubtly asked to leave. Despite explanation. No effort to try to work something out. Totally get the issue. Some ppl no interest in helping.

So I gave the rice a shot (with spicy kimchi)

Pros: it's rice, alright. Tastes just like the real thing (kinda missing something, but better than PKU imitation rice)

Cons: look at the rice. It's pretty painful to take out of the packet, and is so tightly packed it comes out in lumps.

Finally - an actual PKU post!

I got an email from Promin saying they've got this new low protein rice - rice which is pretty much "normal rice" but has gone through some process to make it only half an exchange.

As someone who loves rice, I'm going to give this a try later on!

PowerWash simulator is the ultimate power fantasy:

You get unlimited water to power wash all the dirt and grime off stuff, and you don't need to worry about water bills, saving water or any of that stuff.

Makes me feel dangerous... WATCH OUT, GRIME!!
July 22, 2025 at 7:23 PM
As I listen to my early 2000s clubbing playlist, I'm realising the people who made these songs were probably expecting someone youthful to be raving to it at a club, and not someone in their mid-30s playing a video game about power washing dirt off a house with said music in the background (i.e. me)

Just bought the vinyl two days ago, it arrived brand new.

I was still trying to get the plastic wrapping off when I walked into the door.

Creased the edge of the vinyl... 😡🤬

Yesterday I got my new iPad (bought it from Amazon prime sale) as a bit of an upgrade from my old Samsung Galaxy A9+.

My old tablet was £150 at the time, thew new iPad is less than £300.

Maybe it's because I'm just used to Android, but I'm not finding much use of the iPad.

Just finished reading "Funny Story" by Emily Henry.

Genuinely enjoyed that book, it's so wonderfully wholesome and funny, and an easy read to boot. Wholeheartedly recommend it to those who like a chick flick or just want to read something funny while the topic is navigating relationships.
