Most people want to live in a vibrant community close to the people we care about. If we want to protect the climate, we need to support good, union job opportunities in the transition.

seems to me that those democrats inclined not to fight perceive themselves as living through a somewhat ordinary cycle of presidential overreach and backlash and not something much more significant and dangerous

In a normal political system that has strong parties, there would be a way for members to replace leaders like Schumer who disregard their preferences.

In the US, Democratic voters have essentially no mechanism to change the direction of the party leadership.

Authoritarianism can only succeed when democracy fails to deliver for working people.

Authoritarian parties can only succeed when the pro-democracy parties fail to fight for working people.

We need a new democracy and a new party system which can represent working people.

UK's Zack Polanski understands the most basic rule of messaging: if you want to touch a nerve, you have to touch a nerve. Of course they're coming after him and of course his Green Party is rising in polls and members.

The right can mock my teeth all it wants – it shows the Greens have struck a nerve | Zack Polanski
As a politician, I expect opposition and debate. But when it centres on personal insults, not policies, something else is going on, says the leader of the Green party, Zack Polanski

BIG NEWS: Congresswoman-elect Adelita Grijalva will finally be sworn in as a member of Congress tomorrow.

She is likely to be the 218th vote on the Epstein discharge petition, which would force a full vote to release the Epstein files in their entirety.

My family has been without half our income for 40 days. It has been.. very hard.

We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions.

We are not willing to have been put through this for NOTHING.

If you don't want the #Dems to cave & allow ACA health insurance costs to explode you can contact your US Senator here: senate.gov/senators/sen...

& your US House Rep here: house.gov/representati...

Please register your concerns directly! It does matter, as did your 10/4 vote.

Every disaffected Dem & swing focus group we do begins with people asking what's real. They hear, at times, this is authoritarian takeover threatening lives & livelihoods. But perceive most "leaders" not acting as if this were so.

my takeaway from climate week nyc is that "climate storytelling" is a little too much "we must reimagine our deepest souls in relationship to mother nature and the moral abyss of the polycrisis into which we must now stare" and not enough "ok but get a heat pump"

Yes, it's true. Someone did take your job. And your healthcare, pension, wage hikes and life off a single income.
It just wasn't immigrants, welfare recipients, queer people or women having abortions.
If you want to know who took your money, it's the people with all the money.

The reaction to Mamdani has been a big cipher as to what's been going on with the elites in Trump 2. Mass authoritarian power grabs? Fine, as long as there's tax cuts. Raising taxes on the super wealthy by 4%? ALL HANDS ON DECK.
