Starmer's language was deplorable.

It was grotesquely offensive, accusing people who have brought their gifts to this country of doing "incalculable" "damage"; & politically foolish, in endorsing Farage's claims of an establishment conspiracy.

Hot take: this should not be a free vote for MPs. Political parties should put some effort into this (important) debate, rather than sitting back and letting the individual consciences of MPs decide major bioethics legislation.
