The Whitecaps will try to win MLS Cup on Saturday. They'll fly back to Vancouver not knowing their future in the city.

“Keeping the Whitecaps in the city of Vancouver is more important than the World Cup,” said Victor Montagliani.

Not only was he a superb footballer, but he was also a huge proponent of democracy, socialism and working-class identity in football.

In this era of ultra-commercialised football, we'd do well to remember Sócrates and the impact he had.
