It’s so hard to describe what this is like to people who aren’t here. The ICE/BCP occupation seeps into everything. It’s not just the horror of the big stuff. It’s the little stuff, too: helicopters all night, vigilance during every trip out of the house, guilt at having any downtime at all.
I've personally had barely any ICE encounters. I've done patrolling when I can. And my body is just yelling at me that it's wrecked.
Even doing a little bit is fucking taxing. Everyone doing more is a superhero, and I don't think folks who haven't been involved in an occupation understand the toll.

Not so fun thing about the Canadian Netteflix fic I'm writing is my oldest hockey memory is the Nordiques last season before moving, and I want to reference that, but I also don't want to write Felix and Annette as being in their 30s for their first meeting.

At my parents for dinner. We went out and held candles, only a couple neighbors did as well but considering the circumstances that was still nice.
Now the candles are sitting on the front steps, still burning their small flames in -5F/-20C windy weather. I just hope these small hopes can endure.
