Me: grumbling about my life choices as I'm spreading pine pellets around the mud pit we call our chicken run.

Also me: making a wishlist of chicken and turkey breeds I want to add this year and adding more incubators to my Christmas list.

Tackled the chicken yard mud issue today and got some turkey snuggles. Willow is pretty much a pet dinosaur and I love him. 😍

Hopping on to say my fam and I are safe. Really sad for my community, especially for all the farmers in the valley. 🥺

We got a bunch of old photos in thre mail from my FILs brother from New York...really sweet pictures and seeing his smile made me big time sad. 🥺

I'm not embarrassed to admit that over the past 6 months our house has sort of gone to hell in the cleaning department. With every that happened with my FIL and becoming his caregivers we had no more energy left to give.

Today I started deep cleaning.

This boy ALWAYS grooms himself while he waits for the judge.

Wesley did his 2nd ARBA sanctioned show today. Walnut here was beat by his brother and our holland lop Steve got 1st in his group but didnt go any further.

It was a quick show for us but proud of our bunny boys.

My FIL, the man who has been a part of my life for almost 20yrs, who would drop anything to help out a friend or loved one, a tough New Yorker and retired iron worker who helped build many Seattle and PNW well known structures, passed away peacefully this afternoon after 9 days in hospice.
December 4, 2025 at 12:19 AM
My FIL has not passed yet. It's been a really long agonizing week.

And I have to go back to work tomorrow because I cant keep using up my sick leave and cant use my bereavement leave until he passes.

I'm exhausted both mentally and physically.

For some reason my brother is the only one who can handle Grayson when he's misbehaving. It's actually hilarious.

Grayson isnt afraid of him, but I guess he knows when Funcle is mad he is in big trouble. 😂

How inconvenient...I am out of a few personal care staples on black friday...ugh.

I am not braving ANY store today other than the feed store for chicken food.

Taking a break from the hospital to have dinner with my family today.

I dont think I've cried this much since 2016 when I lost my dear friend. This is such a different type of grief and the hospice process for loved ones is so very painful.

FIL is comfortable. That's all that matters.

FIL officially entered hospice today. It was a long, emotional, day.

We also had some unnecessary family drama.

Rough day. FIL was taken via ambulance to hospital today and was admitted. Unsure of what the outcome will be. He isn't in good shape.

I powered thru work and got there around 3:30. My MIL immediately came toward me and just clung to me.

Relatives here visiting. Lots of emotions. This person has been a part of my life for nearly 20yrs (it will be 19 this year). Seeing him deteriorating so quickly and knowing we don't have much time left is the worst.

There's lots of sadness, but also anticipation of relief from pain.

I'm not putting up our tree this year or decorating and I feel guilty about it.

Our house is still in disarray with no official start date for reconstruction. Our livinroom is still being used for storage of the boys' rooms.

We will most likely be spending Christmas eve at my parents.

I decided to start reading the Wicked novel.

This whole novel is....a choice. 😬

I feel like I'm going to need the original Oz books to cleanse my mind.

Last night at 4H yet another one of our rabbits surprised me with "oops I'm a boy!"

This one isnt 100% on me. This bun was the runt of his litter and he tiny! He also matured very slowly.

BUT. He has recently had (unintentional) exposure to our girl bunny.

One of my students asked me what my favorite book was because she needed a recommendation for her 110th book to read this year. I said Watership Down. I did warn her it's a tad intense, but the rabbit folklore is whimsical and the characters are amazing. 1/2

I really just need bad people to get brought to justice. This timeline is exhausting. 😩

Jer is back on the Zamboni!! Part time for now as a side gig, but I could sense a big confidence shift in him after his first night at the new rink and I'm so excited for him!

Watching our contractor getting spicy with insurance via email communications...🍿

Weoponized incompetence is really frustrating...

Wesley is learning about the heartbreak of farm life.

We sent thr quail to a new farm today. Unfortunately no one in our family likes quail eggs. They will be much happier where they are going!

Wesley now has the money from selling them to put towards his 4-H projects.
November 6, 2025 at 3:37 AM
We had a fun night out with Wesley! He got to see Back to the Future for the very first time and Jeremy got to experience it in the theater for the first time. Both were equally as excited!

Jer is once again a zamboni driver. He is picking up a 2nd job at a local rink on the weekends.

I hate that he has to work 2 jobs to make ends meet for us, but also hoping this will be a confidence boost for him getting back to what he did for 25yrs.

Happy (very soggy) Halloween! In true PNW fashion it rained. A lot. 😂

We came prepared with ziploc baggies to keep candy dry! We went to our old neighborhood and the boys got tons of candy! It was nice catching up with old neighbors too.
