Madness. This is what the brilliant people at Committee Against Bird Slaughter (CABS) are facing simply for trying to stop the illegal trapping and killing of birds in Cyprus.

Countless migrating songbirds are killed every year so they can be eaten as part of the traditional ‘ambelopoulia’ dish.

Good advice Jenny. I'm on one hip and two knees. Manage the pain and then it's physio, physio, physio. Enjoy your new hip ❤️
I'm having a hip op at the end of next week and in my workplace, the House of Lords, with its average age of 71, there's lots of peers who've already had that done.
Most advice = take it easy at first and keep doing the physio.
I'm concerned I'll read the news and miss being at work!

I agree. Though at least their road kill feeds our raptors. Until they too are killed by game keepers.
Pheasants bred in industrial farms, dumped into National Parks, then massacred for money. This is the shooting industry. It’s cruel, destructive, and morally indefensible. Time to shut it down.

Here's an important petition from @sascampaigns.bsky.social on banning bail out of water companies.
Why should we keep paying them to do a very bad job?

Ban the Bailouts
The Government is trying to pass a law that could force the public to bailout failing water companies. Help stop this scandal, before it’s too late.

It’s December 1st, which means it’s the first day of our #ArchaeologyAdvent!

The door in the image below belongs to Gawthorpe Hall near Burnley, Lancashire.

It’s believed that the house was constructed around an earlier pele tower.

Conservation is top of mind across our sites and it helps wildlife of all shapes and sizes thrive, just like the pink-footed geese @jimdixonwriter.bsky.social has observed in this piece. 🦆

Have a read of his Times piece below: www.thetimes.com/comment/colu...
Our birds do best when reserves are connected
Pink-footed geese are doing well in the marshlands of Norfolk but the picture is bleaker for endangered curlews
