Just started the Jamie Foxx special—probably won’t finish it tonight. His story about the first doctor giving him a cortisone shot and sending him on his way is a reminder that money and fame don’t always buy Black folk out of medical health disparities in this country.

Just watching Jamie Foxx What Happened Was on Netflix. I'm really glad that Jamie is well and completely recovered but let's be completely honest here:
He had the money and the HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE. to get the best of Everything. He was able to come back from something most of us wouldn't have.

Baby this was a lesson I learned in action this year. My gallbladder was giving me issues. I was so focused on showing up for work until my body started rejecting food and I was forced out of work into an earlier medical leave.
Our egos show up when we think we have to be the one to help or save somebody.
I see this a lot when it comes to a job. People will say “what are they gonna do without me?”
The same thing they were doing before they met you.
You see how United Healthcare kept on going with that meeting..

Yes, your mom sacrificed a lot for you.. That’s what she was supposed to do.
I think a lot of people feel guilty for that and overcompensate. Then try to make their mother happy at all times.
It was your dad/her partner’s job to help her. Not yours.
