This is just insane. It’s only a matter of time before DHS kills another innocent person here.

Incredible interview with @whstancil.bsky.social The details are useful (for us in ME) and sobering.
NEW: Hours after the fatal shooting of intensive care nurse Alex Pretti by federal immigration agents in Minneapolis, I interviewed @whstancil.bsky.social, who has been involved in local rapid response efforts to track ICE in the city.

This was a harrowing—and inspiring—interview.

After executing Alex Pretti on Saturday, ICE has shifted to primarily targeting bus stops and elementary schools in my community this week. I cannot overstate how much of the ICE activity in my community is just targeting places where little kids are.
Video from this morning shows ICE agents deploying tear gas outside a Minneapolis preschool as parents shout, “This is a preschool! There’s kids here!”

CBP chief Bovino has confirmed that the officers who executed Alex Pretti in the street yesterday are not only *not on administrative leave,* they have all been reassigned to other jurisdictions and are all on the street today.

This is totally unheard of for any officer-involved shooting

Truth
"ICE will leave Minnesota if you hand over your voter rolls" tells you everything you need to know.

This was never about immigration or fraud. It was always about rigging elections.

Congress can stop ICE. Congress can block the use of force in Greenland. In other words, in this crisis, Congress can act to support civil liberties at home and free nations abroad. To fail to act would be to be complicit in a dreadful outcome.

FYI:

In 1916 the U.S. signed an agreement for control of St. Thomas, St. John & St. Croix, known as the “Danish West Indies,” in exchange for $25 million & a declaration that the U.S. would “not object to the Danish Govt extending their political & economic interests to the whole of Greenland.

Very true. The fees for publication are outrageous. They used to waive them if they were from low income countries and authors but not any more.
If RFKJ truly wanted gold standard science and innovation, he would use the power of the govt to end the pay-to-play scientific publishing.

Go ahead Bobby. We dare you.

I fear public health may not be doing the outreach either as part of the forces that keep people from getting vaccinated.
Yep. It's not all hesitancy. Access and just apathy play roles as well. Antivaxxers have convinced many the #flu shot is worthless so why bother?
I know families who believe in regular childhood vaccines but the flu shot may not line up with the yearly pediatric visit and somehow personal schedules don’t mesh with a local flu clinic, time slips by and a local outbreak occurs. Visiting nurse clinics at schools and fall community events help.

Great article. Thanks to the hard-working journalists.
>1 million Americans died in a traumatic viral pandemic, and America responded in the most American way, which was to make it more likely people would die of diseases we’d already contained by tearing up the social contract in the name of “freedom” while disregarding the actual concept of freedom.
