Some people are trying to paint us as the villains in the Irritator case — simply because we’re demanding justice.
This is a familiar tactic: blaming the victims to protect the system.

Maybe I'm too much of a negativist, but I've always disliked the 'de-extinction' field. It all looks like one big grift that attracts charlatans and pretenders, and which is forever making false claims and promises that distract people from what's actually interesting about extinct animals.

You know, it’s hard to say what Colossal has even done because there’s no research to show. No publication. No access to data. All we have is their say so about what they did and how. Slick marketing but nothing to fact check the research and methods directly.

So they certainly made some kind of GMO wolf, but it’s fundamentally not a dire wolf. A few points:
The Return of the Dire Wolf
Colossal Biosciences has genetically engineered the first dire wolf to live in over 10,000 years. Here's what that means for other extinct species.

Here the result of the St. Bathans fauna stream! This one took us into the early Miocene of New Zealand, the Moa's ark, as some call it. After many formation streams with very few birds this one has probably way too many!

Prior to Jurassic Park, the popular image of Dilophosaurus was that of a hulking "carnosaur" differentiated from similar big carnivores only by its distinctive crests and comparatively gracile skull. (1/4)
