Texas measles outbreak now at 400 cases and 41 hospitalizations.
It was at 327 cases 3 days ago. Unclear how many of the hospitalizations are due to Vitamin A liver toxicity, as promoted by RFK Jr. The number of actual cases surely exceeds 1,000 at this point

Going to SoCal this wk for Deuel Conference on Lipids, but also visiting my parents and brother who were each evacuated from their homes in my beloved home town of La Canada Flintridge. This was the view from my brother’s backyard last week. Lots of hugs needed!

Today I got word a key paper will be published. I also was privileged to attend our UCSF Department of Medicine’s leadership retreat, this year on mentoring. Closed the day finalizing long term strategy for the UCSF Diabetes Center @ucsfdc.bsky.social. Then, once home, I looked up & saw this. Yeah.

Our commitment to training the next generation of US endocrinologists must address the staggering shortage that currently exists. These are prevalent and complex diseases, people!
