My contribution to the Christmas table are these penguins I’ve turned on the lathe from black walnut and maple wood and then padauk for the beaks. Hats and bow ties made by my mum and aunty.

Just one day to go until the Snowmen and Reindeer I’ve been making on the lathe will be on sale at the Christmas market in Farsley - they’ll be there alongside my sister’s fantastic Christmas textiles. Hopefully they’ll be part of people’s festive decorations for a long time to come.

UK Amazon prime subscribers will now find that not only Miami Vice (2006) is now available to them, but also Local Hero, which I’ve always found to be a great Autumn watch, for reasons I can’t articulate. Here’s a photo I took in 2023 of Camusdarach beach, which was a key location from the film.
