Holy shit. How is this not making headlines right now?

Every once in a while I boot up ye olde PROCESS in SPSS just to click the PASTE button a bunch of times before I close it again in disgust.

No software tells me what to not do when I can obviously still do it!

Wow. Imagine being this DA and having a slam dunk case that would earn you national recognition...only to do...whatever led to this. Not what I expected lol.
BREAKING: Justice Gregory Carro has dismissed the first degree murder charge against Luigi Mangione in his state case, finding the DA put legally insufficient evidence before the grand jury. More TK.

Almost every single HBCU is under a bomb threat

There have been almost no announcements about civil discourse and safety regarding the students there.

UPDATE - it is not just VSU. It appears Virginia HBCU's are being threatened systematically.

Virginia State University is currently on a full campus lockdown over a threat of violence to the university.

I've done all the things - closed the lab and confirmed everyone is safe. But this is horrible. Luckily I'm home sick today but many are sheltered in place. This feels awful.

Wow SPSS added this awful highlighting feature to EVERY ANALYSIS OUTPUT with no way to turn it off. Why would anyone want or need this feature? So obnoxious.

Every time I have to peek back at SPSS for something I am so glad R exists and is free lol.

Man I don't even know what this means but I long for this kind of minor misreporting being a big scandal in the states. Accuracy standards? Sign me up.
“BBC Scotland breached accuracy standards, failing to disclose that Lord Haughey is a Labour peer on ‘Debate Night’ on the eve of a crucial by-election.”

“[The] BBC didn’t disclose that Haughey is a Labour peer, instead describing him as an ‘entrepreneur’ and ‘Labour donor’.”

🚨New Paper Alert🚨

Just published in AJCP - one of my students and I (along with an awesome team of collaborators) explored the ostensible impact of historic redlining practices on contemporary violence exposure risk of adolescents living in those communities.

Violent injuries tend to cluster together geospatially. The discriminatory housing practice of redlining undertaken by the United States federal government in the 1930s has been repeatedly linked wit...

We can now replace eyes with teeth. Sometimes I get why science scares people who don't understand it (but also this is so fucking cool).

My wife and I got together and decided life was just too easy with a toddler. It was like really nbd and too easy. We're in the middle of potty training and we're just like "double it!!!"

This is all a joke except the doubling it part: our son Merle West is due 2/20/26! 😎🎉😁💪(🫩😮‍💨)

I gave chatGPT the wiring schematic for a range hood I was installing - I wanted to see what kind of advice it would give about wiring it. I gave it a very specific scenario about what I was seeing and asked it how to proceed.

The instructions it gave me would have almost definitely caused a fire.

One of the clearest examples I've seen of the need for politicians to lead the polls rather than follow them. People's opinions on policy are *highly* malleable in response to different messaging frames.
When Republican voters learn that the "Big Beautiful Bill" takes from the poor to give to the rich, they oppose it.

But my wife is also on every social media platform that I am...except BlueSky, making it my only safe space to say:

Really cool/important work on measure proliferation. I wonder what this might look like if you just examined slight variations to existing scales (e.g., short versions, "new" scales that borrow items from others).
Our paper "A fragmented field" has just been accepted at AMPPS. We find it's not just you, psychology is really getting more confusing (construct and measure fragmentation is rising).
We updated the preprint with the (substantial) revision, please check it out.
