A beautifully elegant study from Vaish and Leeba and team looking at mitochondrial volume regulation using cleverly designed and fabricated chambers to track fission yeast divisions over time
How is mitochondrial volume maintained across successive generations of dividing cells? In our new preprint, we show how fission yeast cells use mitochondrial activity to control division timing and maintain mitochondrial homeostasis! (1/n)

Thanks for highlighting our (@polybiotique.bsky.social) report and its coverage by @dyanilewis.bsky.social, Izzy. As we mention in our report, fixing this will require clearly earmarked resources, and importantly, the will and strong commitment to equity from the leadership in Indian academia.
A shocking description 👇🏾 of how women are being let down by scientific research communities in India. This is of course only mirroring many of the trends that we know exist everywhere else too. The 📊 showing conferences where women are outnumbered or excluded entirely leaves one absolutely appalled.
