Absolutely: it’s not the “transition to freedom and democracy”, it’s not a war against drug trafficking, it’s the new war for oil.

Our new article shows how the trend of data dismantling and artificially creating data scarcity about key public issues is affecting scrutiny and journalism investigations. Great working with Mathias Felipe de Lima Santos, @antmandan.bsky.social @tjthomson.bsky.social 360info.org/governments-...

Although Mexican protests are a bit different, it’s important to see the Gen Z connections: “In several Asian and African countries this year, members of the Gen Z demographic group have organised protests against inequality, democratic backsliding and corruption.” www.aljazeera.com/amp/news/202...

"Our hemisphere"? Like the Monroe doctrine 100 years ago. What a concept! Let's call it the Rubio doctrine.
US issued a response (48h later):

“I don’t think EU gets to determine what international law is. What they certainly don’t get to determine is how the US defends its national security. US is under attack from organized criminal narco-terrorists in our hemisphere”, —Rubio

Gosh, so happy to have had great students this semester! Great ideas and pieces. I wish them the best in their journalism pathway. I'd be glad to have many of them as PhD students, but they are in love with journalism, so it's better to leave them to find their way.

This first page reminds me so much of the Colombian media (and I'm not talking about the tabloids). One can create a transnational collection of cover pages with the Communist boogeyman. But some folks in Twitter are planning to print T-shirts 😉
