I’m kinda obsessed with the idea that most of Canada’s cities were built on a floodplain and that the obvious conclusion is that we should move every one of them, and that the expense would be worth the lives saved. https://thenarwhal.ca/outdated-flood-maps-canada/
Are Canadians more afraid of floods — or flood maps?
Canada’s outdated flood maps put people at risk. In Montreal, a battle over updating them highlights a nationwide worry over home values and insurance costs

I might have incorporated “seriocomic” into my Internet handle instead of what I went with had I known about the word at the time of its creation.

I don’t think you should have to listen to bad music so that you can appreciate good music. I think you should listen to good music that you don’t like, so that you can appreciate the golden age of music that we’re currently in.

The thought has occurred to me to not be an urbanist anymore, but still live in a city.

When in Vancouver, take the $3 ($5 during the daytime) harbour cruise, aka the SeaBus journey from Waterfront Station to Lonsdale Quay and back. You won’t regret it. https://flickr.com/photos/bazzy/54989215720/

This oddly bureaucratic piece of news means several things for The Tyee.

First, we can give tax receipts to our Tyee Builders.

Second, it’s validation about that our non-profit exists solely to produce journalism.

Third, it marks a milestone on a long journey. 📰 #CdnMedia
