This whole birthday thing does not cause reflection for me. I am optimistic that it means I'm still immature somehow despite rigorous grown-upping (don't recommend) for the last two years. Not sure when this yearly happening lost any thrill for me. I do enjoy basic acknowledgement, I guess. 🙂

I wish I could say this degradation is a surprize, but Mary Schiavo (Flying Blind, Flying Safe) said this kind of thing was coming back in 1997. She was very critical of the FAA.

The long history of GOP twisting of truth. Because god forbid they disturb the White collars committing the crime. Seems like a theme in USA, don't blame the people who are ACTUALLY committing fraud, blame the poors who have no control.
As Marshall, a doctor, well knows, Medicaid recipients don't engage in fraud (they can't, since they are not involved in payments); it is corrupt health care providers (including some doctors) who defraud Medicaid programs.

I believe this is BORTAC, the Border Patrol's equivalent of SWAT. The guy who eventually shot the Uvalde killer was part of BORTAC. They're trained operators.

OK, I’m told the feds released Mayor Barka rather than holding him over the weekend on the pretext they couldn’t get him before a judge. I am pleasantly surprised, through I suspect the decision was made on a lower level and that the people who made it may suffer.

How does my life work? I took a two-week break from teaching. I have had a week and a half of migraines that rendered me useless. Not even mentioning USA-induced stress.
