Gun violence is a threat to freedom and liberty, and gun-owners who believe they have a right to an unregulated gun-industry are not just wrong, but are per-se irresponsible and reveal how unworthy of a weapon they are.

The Post DC v. Heller interpretation of the 2nd amendment is tyrannical.
You cannot reform evil you can only destroy it. America must stop treating a tumor like a common cold.
Anadith Danay Reyes Álvarez died in government custody.

She had sickle cell and congenital heart disease but couldn’t access timely and adequate medical care.

We need to reform immigration detention.

Stephen Miller would be very upset to read this if he knew how to read.
Immigrants in the US consumed about 24% fewer welfare and entitlement benefits per capita than native-born Americans in 2023, new Cato Institute research finds.

You attack gun rights because you're a hypocrite. I attack gun rights because I don't believe in them. We are not the same.
Trump: "With that being said, you can't have guns. You can't walk in with guns. You just can't. You can't walk in with guns. You can't do that. But it's just a very unfortunate incident."

Anything less than abolishment and Stephen Miller in prison is unacceptable. The correct solution is Trump in prison as well.
Dems coalescing around 5 restrictions on ICE, I'm told:

DHS required to cooperate with state probes (big)
CBP stays at border
warrants for arrests
IDs, bodycams
ICE out of churches, schools

"That package unites a lot of Dems," Sen Chris Murphy tells me on the pod:

A Dem Senator’s Harsh Takedown of Trump Hits Home: “Breaking Point”
As Trump scrambles to contain the damage from the latest ICE horrors, Senator Chris Murphy offers a sharp indictment of Trump-ICE lawlessness—and explains how Dems can meet the urgency of the moment.

Thomas Hobbes is my benchmark for if a government is abiding by the absolute barest, anemic definition of a social contract. If they're not even doing right by Hobbes, we're in a bad, bad situation. Hobbes is not the social contract theorist we deserve but the one we need AT LEAST.
At this point, even by the strictest Hobbesian standards, this government has abandoned its duty to serve the public, and is illegitimate.

Everyone Chuck Schumer has pulled up his glasses. We have finally managed the bare minimum.
Senate Democrats will not provide the votes to proceed to the appropriations bill if the DHS funding bill is included.

Belief in the second amendment was always a farce relying on ahistorical arguments to justify conservatives desire for guns. 'because I wanna' is their entire ideology.

Donald Trump is lying actively to Americans that the world respects us. They need to prove him wrong. Boycott this and the Olympics.

This is exactly what we need. This everywhere.

I got really radicalized in my energy law class. I was taught by the lead counsel for Eversource, the regional utility. Maine and New Hampshire townships have routinely lobbied against grid upgrades to reach Quebec energy sources. A few thousand people harming millions because of aesthetics.
If only there were some way to move electricity from one state into neighboring states!

Ah, there is, it's just the Sierra Club ran a successful ballot measure to veto it after taking $25M from the natural gas industry

I never want to fucking hear again Trump is not putting people in concentration camps.
Analysis by The Marshall Project of ICE data obtained by the Deportation Data Project found that the Trump administration’s revival of family detention has swept thousands of children into ICE custody. At least 3,800 children under 18, including 20 infants, have been booked since Trump took office.
ICE Threw Thousands of Kids in Detention, Many For Longer Than Court-Prescribed Limit
Former immigration staffers argue ICE is choosing to detain families for prolonged periods to speed deportations and compel them to leave.

No union with child kidnapper's. ICE must be abolished, Trump imprisoned, MAGA destroyed.
January 22, 2026 at 5:52 PM
Yes this is an impeachable and removable offense, Democrats need to never shut up about it, and this is easily one of the if not the most egregious and systemic violations of the 4th amendment.
ICE secretly told its officers that any time someone has been ordered removed, ICE can break down their door.

It has been accepted for generations that the only thing which can authorize agents to break into your home is a warrant signed by a judge. No wonder ICE hid this memo!

Everything I've learned about Al Gore over my life has taught me America made a seismically stupid choice not electing Al Gore.
Al Gore loudly booing a US Commerce Secretary at a bankers’ forum should be a Futurama joke instead of real life.
what do you MEAN Al Gore heckled Lutnick at Davos
January 21, 2026 at 6:13 PM
Are Democrats literally just controlled opposition at this point? Democrats should not be giving them ANYTHING. Until ICE is out of our cities? No, that's not enough. They shouldn't be doing shit until Trump is removed from office.
January 21, 2026 at 2:59 AM
Unfortunately I think a period of humiliation is basically the only way to teach Americans their lesson.

Do I want a depression? No. Do I think it might be all that ever destroys the tumor of MAGA? Possibly.

I need a Historian to help me think of a better example than the United States demonizing the very institutions that were established primarily for its benefit and continue to support its success. The International Order has, for the USA, been the key to the American hegemony.
Trump amplifies post that says NATO — not China or Russia — is part of the “real threat” to America.

From a political strategic perspective I am unsure if protesting in a Church is going to work great. I'm unsure. Though this was exactly the Church I'd protest in, one Pastored by an ICE goon.

Ethically I think it is righteous and Jesus would join you if he could.
January 20, 2026 at 4:39 AM
We need to get good at blaming Trump for the violence his regime suffers. Yes, I do think we can and should blame Trump for the violence ICE suffers because he is the one that created the dangerous, inciting situation.
ICE are Gestapo scum.

There, bitch, that‘s 8,001.
"We've seen over a thousand percent increase in assaults on ICE officers, 8,000 verbal assaults on them...."

This is a completely demented, star-raving mad villain monologue. This is so beyond not funny anymore, it is plain that Donald Trump has Imperial designs on Greenland.

He is trying to be an incompetent 21st century Andrew Jackson.

Jonathan Ross, the murderer of Renee Good
BRENNAN: Tell me about the officer, Jonathan Ross

KRISTI NOEM: Don't say his name! I mean, for heaven's sake, we shouldn't have people continue to dox law enforcement

BRENNAN: His name is public

NOEM: I know, but that doesn't mean it should continue to be said

It can be discouraging to realize how, despite Trump's underwater approval for his authoritarianism, STILL his approval doesn't reach a zenith, where the nation reaches self-awareness. It's a sad fact about the disunity of the modern USA.

I think about 38-36% of the country is adamantly MAGA
January 18, 2026 at 5:04 AM
I got the opportunity to intern at a public defenders office once. Despite the vitriol, I see more humanity in the average person accused of a crime than in any member of this regime. They are humans too. They have families. They have rights. Their lives matter.
Relevant question. The answer is, "Bet your ass!"
