Last December, I saw these posters.

🛑 We have come full circle 🛑

Yolanda López created these posters in 1978, a year marked by intense political debate in the U.S. that culminated in the passage of the Immigration and Nationality Act Amendments of 1978.

A stunning day.

A Peruvian pepper tree (L) and an olive tree (R).

I mistakenly thought these pepper trees were California pepper trees, but they are in fact Peruvian pepper trees.

Native to South America, it is mildly invasive here.

They remind me of willow trees.

This is the analysis we should be paying attention to - these are the correct numbers. Please don’t use the much higher numbers that aren’t backed up by citations and careful analysis.
Based on crowd-sourced records of No Kings Day event turnout, and extrapolating for the cities where we don't have data yet, it looks like roughly 4-6 million people protested Trump across the U.S. yesterday. That's nearly 2% of the U.S. pop!

Mobilized anti-Trump resistance is exceeding 2017 levels
"No Kings Day" protests turn out millions
Our unofficial estimate is that around 4 million people attended a protest event yesterday. Anti-Trump resistance is outpacing 2017.

Finally got the chance to test the bird bath I made from an old satellite dish.

It is solar powered and I only have a little panel but it is enough to run the pump at a reduced flow.

Happy Flower Friday!

The blossom of a common chives (Allium schoenoprasum).

Last year, I bought a living chive plant at the grocery store and planted it in the garden. The plant is currently flowering and its flowers are edible.
