This'll probably be my last post for... a while... so lemme just say that the next time you see me post I'll either be dead OR home from an extended period to Japan.

Sooooo... bye!

Saw a video talking about how difficult it is to leave jobs at some Japanese offices. Like the boss will sometimes just not accept resignation letters. And it just made me imagine a Junji Ito type story...

I know there's a lot of stuff going on in the U.S. right now, but I'd like to talk about something going on where I am.

Today, the Alberta Government, under premier Danielle Smith, introduced a bill that would force teachers work under cramped classroom conditions. (1/3)

the problem with crime is that the real world isn't a Victorian drama where every petty thief is just stealing bread for their starving child.

90% of the time petty theft is 'a guy steals a display laptop so he can sell the parts for drug money'.

Regular reminder that you don't have to try to beat the game; you don't have to have a bespoke Take on everything, you don't have to reason your way to it from first principles, and you can in fact fail catastrophically compared to a few simple heuristics when you try.

The responses this post is getting, combined with the animating grievances of large swathes of politics, has convinced me we need a kind of society wide PSA about how Buying Things Is Optional.

You don’t think video games should cost $100? Don’t buy the videogame. Buying Things Is Optional.
AAA video games should cost $100 on launch. this would still be extremely cheap for the amount of time and enjoyment you get out of them! But an audience of whiny babies has kept them literally at the same price for *two decades* despite both general inflation *and* sector-specific costs rising

the natural endpoint of “no ethical consumption under capitalism” is not “so, lol, who cares”. as in everything else in life, there *are* choices you make that can matter, even if you have to make compromises.
i will note again that there is a really unhealthy, unpleasant and strong current of consumerism that runs through the left in a way that genuinely didn’t used to be true

I'm just sitting at my desk waiting for my shift to start.

I feel like if we EVER get ANY Nintendo games on Steam or PC? It's gonna be like... a NES collection first and then maybe they'll trickle out some other virtual console stuff.

the one week link in every monster catching game that isn't pokemon IMHO is the monster designs.

You can make your monster catching thing a fully fleshed out RPG with a story, voice acting, combat, graphics, yadda yadda but if the monster designs don't click?

Yea I ain't interested sorry.

One frustrating conclusion I keep coming back to is how all discourse is literally just "why isn't the world more catered to me?"

And for people who do lack proper representation they have a point. But also it's not something you can force?

Dungeons and Dragons is one of those weird cases where if I could just treat it as a random tabletop RPG it's honestly fine if not pretty good. Not for every kind of game or for everyone but it's got some stuff going for it.

Really though: I know it sucks to watch your character lose shit and have to deal with that. But there really isn't an exact science here and sometimes you need to just tank viability for the health of the game.

Jared Leto has to have dirt on like multiple producers at this point right? Like there's no other explanation.
‘TRON: ARES’ has earned $14.3M in its opening day at the domestic box office.

For comparison, ‘MORBIUS’ opened to $17.3M.

I think it's fine for anime to reboot and remix content the same way superheroes do. I loved the 90's Spider-man cartoon but still saw value in Spectacular and other Spider-man cartoons. Stampede is just another interpretation of the same building blocks and pieces that made up the original Trigun.
