successfully wore a dress at my dad's place! achievement unlocked.

so i can wear a dress, hoop earrings, sparkly bracelets, and put my hair up in a bun with a flower clip and no-one says a word, we just go play disc-golf at the park like normal. good, I guess?

this is getting crazy!

new safe and Sophie Germain prime of 8192 bits, with 4096 bits set, transitioning between 0-1 at least 4096 times. this one is a bit twisty, it transitions MORE than required 💖

are you seeing this @ari.lt ????

as a teenager i used to fantasize about being Susan Calvin, famed robopsychologist of the asimov books. i was always annoyed that computers were so far away from my imagination.

today my spouse has a paying job tricking chatbots into giving wrong answers. it's honestly hard to believe.

i wouldn't normally quote post hateful content, but c++ deserves it, and this rant is great.
I'm regularly reminded that I'm not hating to my full potential. This person made a YouTube channel to rant about C++ for two hours youtu.be/7fGB-hjc2Gc?...

it is so much fun to "forage" for rng seeds that create bits of melody that sound nice when looped. also wow the visualization is fun

today i learned about Berkson's paradox.

you see this in stats when the sampled population is pulled from a bigger one based on multiple criteria. example: diseases seem to be negatively correlated in hospital, but that's because something sent people there

lately i keep hearing a distant motor sound kind of like the neighbors are using an automatic garage door. i just realized last night; that is the sound of the sump pump keeping our home dry in the current PNW flooding. respect.

functional programming is when you pretend to understand what monoids in the category of endofunctors are
What is functional programming to you? Everyone I ask seems to give me a different answer.
December 10, 2025 at 2:20 AM
everyone who is more into type systems than me is a masochistic out of touch dweeb, everyone who is less into type systems is a loosey goosey vibe-coder one commit away from bringing down the internet.
It'simple:
Everyone who is more into functional programming than me is a dork with math envy afraid of actual hardware, everyone who is less into functional programming than me is an uncultured philistine stuck in 1982 writing C.

big retraction at Springer Nature, bunch of papers using a sketchy dataset of kids faces with and without autism (lol)
www.thetransmitter.org/retraction/e...
Springer Nature retracts, removes nearly 40 publications
The dataset contains images of children’s faces downloaded from websites about autism, which sparked concerns at Springer Nature about consent and reliability.
