Librarians: Are students and researchers are still using your amazing LibGuides to learn digital tools and approaches to research? Or are they turning to ChatGPT or Claude instead?
And then need your assistance?

Sending some love to federal employees and contractors out there who are stuck right now. This is messy (adding to the $*!t show). It creates unnecessary work and adds to the constant anxiety. And for contractors, no back pay. Hardships for citizens that you want to serve.

We stand in solidarity with our CPB colleagues and friends. So many incredible projects were made possible by and with them. ✊
Today is the last day for CPB staff. A team remains to sustain operations at a reduced scale until all obligations are fulfilled. This is a challenging moment for us. Our departing colleagues strengthened the impact of public media & made a profound difference in the lives of the American people. 😥

Life continues. I’m going to a funeral, a good friend is going to a wedding. We are participating in these ceremonies that celebrate life at different stages. There is much that angers me, and still much that brings some joy.

If I was currently researching in DC-area archives, I would sign up. You may know some grad students, or someone in between jobs, who have their LC researcher cards, or are immersed in collections at one of the Smithsonian Libraries, who might be interested.
