Today is #InternationalMigrantsDay.

Migrants are not statistics or headlines. They are our neighbours, colleagues, carers, friends and loved ones - contributing every day to our communities and our society.

Israel's genocide in Gaza has killed over 70,000 Palestinians and destroyed or damaged over 90% of homes.

Contractors in the US are now reportedly vying for contracts to rebuild the strip.

Gaza’s future must be decided by Palestinians. Not by foreign powers or corporate greed.

The greenest, most sustainable way to deliver, from a lovely, small, local #poetry publisher, and in time for Christmas, too! 💚👏🎄 #Sheffield
There's still time to order from us for Christmas delivery to Sheffield addresses (postcodes S1-S17), and we're happy to gift-wrap books, if you like, at no extra cost. Orders received by 23 December will be delivered - by hand, on foot - on or before 24 December.

'These women in Calais are in crisis, but they are not a crisis. Each is a person.'

Rachel Millward reminding us all that empathy matters. Any of us can *be in* crisis without *being* the crisis. A crisis isn't human. Refugees are.
A great piece by Green Party Deputy Leader @rachelmillward.bsky.social

Migration and asylum are not modern anomalies. They are as old as humanity itself. Yet we have allowed our politics to strip them of their humanity, turning people into numbers, threats, slogans.

It is time to move away from a politics in which cruelty is always portrayed as “toughness” and moral abdication as “realism”, argues Green Party Deputy Leader Rachel Millward

We should not rest until the last food bank closes due to a lack of demand
Sophy Ridge to someone from Trussell: "Can I just ask, demand for food banks is going up and this is often seen as a negative thing basically, that it shows that more people are in need turning to food banks. Could you flip that and say its a good thing..."

er, no.

The news has ignored the hunger strikers, but we can't.

They have been imprisoned for over a year without trial or bail, violating their human rights.
Palestine Action was not proscribed at time of their arrests, but they are treated as terrorists.
Lammy has refused to meet their representatives.

I am desperately worried for 20 yr old Qesser Zuhrah who is dangerously ill at HMP Bronzefield. It remains very unclear how soon she will be transferred to hospital.

Qesser is on day 46 of hunger strike. It should not take this long to get the help she needs.

Welcome, Jamie!
British politics is a mess. Food, energy, housing are all too expensive. Major parties are all flogging the dead horse of trickle down. So I’m joining the Green Party. Britain needs an economy that works for workers, for small businesses, and future generations. @greenparty.org.uk

After slashing funding for home insulation by around 25% at last month’s Budget, it is nothing short of shameful that the govt has now chosen to delay the Warm Homes Plan once again.

Every week this plan is put back leaves more people languishing in cold, damp homes.

Do share widely. It is apparent the Con-Lab-Reform alliance will not boost NHS spending enough, won't lower income requirements for inward migration, or remove tuition fees/very low bursaries for many NHS related possible careers.
