More than 1,600 fossil fuel lobbyists granted access to the Cop30 climate negotiations in Belém (Brazil), 12% up from last year’s talks in Baku, Azerbaijan.

What should be the most serious, urgent talks on the planet continue to be a farce.

Bird flu is being painted as a problem wild birds are inflicting on the poultry industry, but it's precisely the reverse.

Where do they think it developed in the first place, if not in the disease incubators that are mass battery farms?

As family lore would have it, my great grandfather (a Monaghan McKenna), oft heard the banshee. The purveyor of cures… he also predicted the death of locals after hearing her wails. On the night of his untimely death, it was no different… but he declined to give his wife a name..

An absolutely *brilliant* day for Ireland.

Now the left needs to show it can, despite differences, work together to provide a numerically viable alternative to FF-FG business-as-usual at the next Dáil election.

It could not be more needed, by people, nature, + climate.

I wouldn't have believed it unless I saw it with my own eyes, but apparently it's still possible for experienced financial journalists to write long-ish articles about exploding home insurance prices and never mention the phrase "climate change."

What if politicians at all levels were chosen like the jury service - you serve five years and then go on about your business?
Like a citizens' assembly - every section of society would be represented fairly and a majority vote gets new policy over the line?
A real democracy?

1. I've long contended that austerity doesn't save money. It merely transfers costs from one group (the very rich, who would otherwise pay more tax) to others. Last night was a powerful reminder of that. Before I go further, I should say I’m fine. Just a black eye, cuts & bruises, no serious harm. 🧵
