I hate the captive princess narrative so much. It tends to be applied disproportionately to women who are considered conventionally attractive, eg Melania Trump. The fact is that women who choose to marry awful men are usually awful themselves. That’s why they like those men. Adult women have agency

Sometimes when I'm writing, I slide into a strange, otherworldly state, and it feels like I don't even have to think: the book is playing out in front of me, the characters just speak to one another, and I merely transcribe it in real time.

I awake on Boxing Day to find USA bombing Nigeria as well as stealing oil tankers at sea. It appears to me that the US has become a rogue state or am I wrong ?

The folly of no staff. I entered a branch of TGJJones. Selected my purchases - then tried to pay - I faced a queue of31 people to the one till. It took 30 mins to pay for my purchases. Behind me were another 30 people all muttering at the chaos. Retailers -choose people over machines to meet demand
