Short post by @rost.me arguing that calling LLMs "generative AI" is misleading nowadays, since generating plausible text is really only one of many things they do (he proposes the term "interpretive AI"). rost.me/2025/05/27/i...

Yesterdays painting. With everything happening right now, the best thing I can do to regulate myself and keep from going into overwhelmed shutdown is just paint. If something cool comes out of it awesome, but the act of painting to get out of this shitty brain space is what’s important. #artsky 🎨

As part of a European networking grant, I am visiting QMul in London. Not having been in the UK for some time feels weird but London has not changed much. The workshop is part of the www.gametable.network, if you are interested in boardgame research it might be worth looking into more.

Met yesterday for a colleagues project on "ai, disability and work", it is interesting to see what biases current ai gpt models have.

I also look super ready for Christmas break :)

I think one of the most frustrating things about announcements like this, as someone who has spent a lot of time on R&D teams in the game industry, is how many *genuinely groundbreaking* things get cast aside because they aren’t visually flashy and conversely how much money goes to stuff like this
Google has developed an AI tool that generates fully playable 3D worlds

This is another interesting case where AI picking up bad behaviours from people can actually help highlight those bad behaviours.

Super Happy to have gotten the funding and looking forward to the work this will enable us to do. I should also mention that if other people are interested in PCG and gen ai systems for game design, we would not be against opening up the project.
Happy to report @sgaudl.bsky.social and I received an international collaboration grant from Vinnova (a Swedish agency), which will allow me to spend 4-6 weeks visiting Gothenburg University over the next year, for a project on “Generative AI systems to tackle high-dimensional game design spaces".
