I saw the spirits of my mother and grandmother after they died. My mother only once, but I saw my grandmother off and on for years. Until I was 10. Then I never saw either one again

Pulled out my knit lace shawl & resumed progress. I have about 50 more repeats (10 row repeats) & I'll be half done.

2019 challenge snowflake from Tatting by the Bay. Uses balanced double stitchrs, Josephine rings, self closing mock rings, thrown off rings, split rings, locks joins, as well as usual rings & chains. Still needs blocking.

For all you folks #knitting, #crocheting, #sewing, or otherwise #making presents:
1) every hour, get up & stretch (set a timer)
2) when you get to a certain level of tired? Stop. You're going to make mistakes you'll need to fix.
3) be kind to yourself. Give them a promissory note if you have to.

Making a small fidget quilt. Can you identify all the activities?
This is a WIP picture. I have done all the machine sewing (hand sewing, like mitered bindings, etc still to do). I did decide on all yellow & orange bindings.

9 block quilt top with binding laid out but not sewn on. 1 patch is moire, 1 patch has a tulle bag filled with buttons, 1 patch is printed with letters, 1 patch is pieced from 3 strips & has a string/braid with buttons & bits, 1 block has a tab with a button (buttonhole not sewn in yet) & loop with button, and 2 stocking clips with bit of stocking, 1 block has braided tab & velvet tab & lace tab & duck cloth tab (for name), 1 block has a zipper, 1 block has a knit cup, & final block is pieced flannel with 2 cords to tie together.

Started a fidget quilt. I have 3 rows pieced, but stopped to get fidget items; may need to catch some parts in seams.

Navy block is moire, pieced grey (block wasn't big enough so I pieced 2 of them) print is flannel. Lime is potentially backing fabric. Strip will probably be binding.

9 patch with different colors & prints. Moire is topstitched to backing. 1 square is 3 equal strips. Another is a block plus 2 strips & a small block to make it the same size as the others.

Aren’t they amazing?! I’ve tried tatting twice (I can knit and crochet; how hard can it be?!) and it was a spectacular disaster both times. It takes incredible skill and her work is a masterpiece.

& if you drop your shuttle through the ring before you close it (posting the shuttle), your last knot is less likely to unflip on you & it's easier to open the ring if you need to. It deforms the rings a little bit (more circle, less teardrop) but it's worth imho.
