Another great present is 12" wide strip of cotton flannel. Zigzag stitch or hem the edges =warm scarf. Bonus: embroider initials at 1 end.

The humans're an accidental colony; right ship, wrong planet, so they form extended family units for support. & while they still have the tech, they do a lot of genetic mixling; so child might not be bio related to either parent. They've been there long enough for multigenerational families, barely

I'm a tatter. We do everything short of grabbing people by the wrist & shoving a shuttle or needle into their grip. Most of the tatters I know are thrilled to share our knowledge.

But you suspended an instructor for rightfully failing a student, because the Christian student claimed religious discrimination. A very bad look for Oklahoma

Ended up as a scarf anyway (can we say I miscounted my cast on? I knew we could). I need to add some more length to it.

I've done a little mending on my jeans; some discreet, some more visible mending type.

Makes me think of grandmother's scrappy ornaments, made from the fabrics at hand.

Well done. What size thread did you use?

Theseus jeans?

Good for you. I hardly ever notice the hole in time to be able to do that. I have one pair that practically shredded/hole about the size of my palm.

SomethingUnderTheBed.com (since it's a bibliography website) is a great place to check if a book or author is genuine, but only if you know about it.

Are you sewing the hole closed? Or applying a patch & sewing the patch in place?
If your needle goes up & down through the fabric in a broken line, that's probably a running stitch.
If you want some hand sewing references, Bernadette Banner is a great resource.

Patching, sashiko, speedweve? All are simple stitches, just a little different applications of it.

What mending method are you going to use? When you have the time/energy to do so.

that is a clever way to make bobbins. I think my local bobbin lace group did something similar to give to newcomers.

I would not call it an easier method. It gets just as artful, complex, & skilled as other lacemaking forms.

You may find Jane Eborall's website of interest (free patterns & pages of tatting techniques). You did an excellent job on the ring, your tension & picot sizes look good. & if you're looking at buying any books, check SomethingUnderTheBed.com first (bibliography website)
