Trump's Game Plan: Invoke the insurrection act and make an example of Minneapolis to intimidate other cities. End goal: Message to base: "Immigrants are the reason your lives are unsatisfactory, and I am delivering on my promise to make your lives better." Classic fascist playbook, n'est-ce pas?

Today at 34 & Park in Minneapolis, a woman tried to drive down the street where a protest had broken out in front of a home ICE was raiding, saying she had a doctor apt to get to. ICE agents busted out her windows, cut off her seatbelt, and pulled her out before arresting her.

Mamdani's inauguration ceremony brought be joy! What a beautiful event from start to finish. Similar to the vibes I felt at JFK's and Obama's inaugurations. Vibes in the end don't amount to much—let's see what the new administration can actually deliver—but what a hopeful way to start the new year!
