agriculture journalist, but i'm just here to talk about movies ✌️
watched INFLUENCERS. loved it. the first movie was so unique and surprising and creative that i was skeptical the sequel would live up to it, but it totally did, and it did so without just repeating the same beats as the original. i definitely want to see more of kurtis david harder's movies.

rewatched TWELVE MONKEYS for the first time in ~25 years. it's not my absolute favorite vibe and is a bit slow to start, but the construction of the story is just so fucking smart and cool that it doesn't matter. 4.5/5.

My father in law got a birthday phone call and was on the phone for at least 90 minutes. He just hung up and has realized he has no idea who he was talking to. Boomers are built different, man. You couldn't get me on the phone for 90 minutes to my best friend.

i always thought sam worthington was pretty bland as an actor, but i really liked what he was doing in RELAY, an underrated thriller I recommend everyone check out.

watched SISU. i've always felt that more movies should feature somebody getting stabbed in the head, and when that happened within the first ten minutes, i knew i was in good hands. 4.5/5.

A ★★★★½ review of Sisu (2022)
I like movies with nuance and depth. I like movies that make you think, movies with ambiguity, movies that surprise you, and movies that don't tie everything up into a nice box. But let it be known th...

this is a great illustration of why it's bad to interpret everything that happens in the world through a single ideological lens. "evil powerful businesses bad, poor disempowered workers good" just isn't the appropriate framework to apply in this situation!!!
“Those of us on the left should be fighting to improve protections for workers of all races, and thereby for the betterment of people’s material conditions regardless of their views,” Arash Azizi argues:
Why the Cinnabon Story Doesn’t Make Me Happy
The left should be promoting working-class solidarity, not delighting in seeing workers summarily dismissed.

most of the replies here are solidly liberal films that, i suppose, are "centrist" because they're not sufficiently leftist
Something for my film head friends: what's the most centrist film you can think of? I'm in editing hell and my brain's just not connecting some dots atm.

watched CENSOR. great setting and concept. somewhat rickety pacing is compensated for by beautiful sound and visuals. horror-coded, but almost more of a drama than a bona fide horror. recommend!

people try to cancel tarantino every few years, but it never works because a) he hasn't said or done anything sufficiently problematic and b) his movies are still almost universally beloved beloved and he continues to make bangers
