I don't know if I'm getting rid of my account on the other platform yet, but I figured I'd give this a try.

About me? Born, raised, and live in Pittsburgh, with 20 year in Louisiana and AZ in the mix, too. Love the Pirate (sigh), the Penguins, and Utah HC. Genetically compelled to follow Steelers
It was a complete accident when I really needed a job. The whole story is a long one.

"Challenge scientific orthodoxy" must be the administration approved way of saying,"ignore scientific facts."
Breaking News: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said he personally instructed the CDC to abandon its position that vaccines do not cause autism. The move underscores his determination to challenge scientific orthodoxy — in this case, that vaccines save lives — and bend the health department to his will.
RFK Jr. Says He Instructed CDC to Change Vaccines and Autism Language on Website
In an interview, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. cited gaps in vaccine safety research. His critics say he is ignoring a larger point: Vaccines save lives.

1) @washingtonpost.com reported Thursday on a controversial policy downgrading how nooses and swastikas are labeled in the Coast Guard.

2) Admin officials attacked The Post, falsely alleging the reporting of "fake crap."

3) The CG said it would review policy language.

4) The CG reversed course.

The argument I hear is that the swastika is a symbol older than the Nazis. And it is. There was a church my dad and I went to often that was built in the mid-1800s that had swastikas in the border mosaics. I was very confused about that as a kid...so I went to the library (cont)
AOC to @pabloreports.bsky.social : A swastika is one of the clearest symbols of hatred in all of humanity… to remove that designation… indicates a possible collaboration with those very elements, which I think is genuinely frightening to any American.

Real headline on CNN. Walmart also contributes to the healthcare and SNAP crises by underpaying their employees and telling them to apply for government benefits.

Y'all and yinz guys...this is the greatest thing ever.

WQEX was one of two local public TV stations in Pittsburgh. They did some educational programming, some local news, and a few other typical PBS-y kind of things. But the best thing about the was all the British shows they aired. (cont)

On the first account, I don't think they are stupid. They do, however, think their audience is, and they are probably right.
Fox Business credulously reports that Saudi Arabia is pushing its investment into the US "to $1 trillion." The entire size of the Saudi economy is $1 trillion. How stupid are these people and/or how stupid do they think their viewers are?

Cassidy practiced in the Charity system in Louisiana. He knows how all of this works in reality, and he knows the shampoo thing is a dumb analogy. He's putting on a performance for an audience of one.
How are rural residents supposed to shop around for emergency care? What do they do when there's only one hospital for miles?

Especially when GOP Medicaid cuts are CLOSING those hospitals!
Cassidy: "If she goes and gets 2 types of shampoo & one is a dollar cheaper, she'll get the cheaper one & the other lowers their price. Once you give her the power of making the decision, she's gonna shop -- that begins to save her money and squeezes waste out of the healthcare system."

I promise y'all...Cassidy is not this stupid. This is playacting for an audience of one.

Until I moved to Baton Rouge in my 30s, I thought this was the only way chicken and waffles was made. Imagine my surprise the first time I ordered it in the south and got fried chicken.
There are a couple things around, but I think I have to give it to PA-Dutch-style chicken and waffles. Pulled chicken and chicken gravy on a waffle, mashed potatoes and corn optional.
I want everyone to post their hometown slop (if you don't have a cuisine that qualifies then your town has zero culture).

Skyline is fine and hits at 3 am just like taco bell lol

Fleur de Lis pizza in Baton Rouge.

Was the pizza good? Meh. Had they washed the pizza pans in the 60 years they were open? Probably not. Was there a measurable layer of cigarette smoke on all of the walls? Yup.

But at just the right time, that pizza hit hard.

If Obama or Biden did this, they'd be drawing up articles of impeachment.

Fox News credulously reports that "the Saudis now say their investment pledge in the US will be increased to $1 trillion." THE ENTIRE GDP OF SAUDI ARABIA IS $1.1 TRILLION, so this is total nonsense.

One thing that doesn't change, though, is the brown on her nose.
