iamque iterum moriens non est de coniuge quicquam questa suo: quid enim nisi se queretur amatam?

Now dying again, she did not complain of anything of her husband: for what had she to complain about except his love?

Metamorphoses, 10.60-61

(Please don't judge my hasty late night translation 🤧)
A study of Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot's "Orpheus leading Eurydice from the Underworld".

I'm partial to Ovid's version of the Orpheus and Eurydice myth, as elegant as Vergil's is.

I love Burne-Jones, but especially because when he learned that mummy brown--a well-used pigment at the time--was made from actual, pulverized mummies, he was so horrified that he immediately ran to his studio and gathered his stock of the stuff, which he then insisted on giving a Christian burial

I got a bit stranded with some flooding (all safe now!) but very ironically will not be able to complete the Odysseus prompt for Classicstober until I make my way properly home (or buy some pencils while I'm here) :p
