I keep on going back to Shout!'s Godzilla marathon on the youtube.

Like, more often than not, one tunes into one of the 'people talking' bits, and not the guys in rubber suits knocking each other around, but it's a lot of fun all the same.

I distinctly remember multiple times in my youth having to drive over an hour-and-a-half to the nearest city with both multiple theatres, and multiple malls in order to experience both.
Some of my best cinema experiences have been due to travelling out of town to see a movie...

I'm participating in a reading challenge this year and one of the prompts is...

"Ask a friend or loved one for a book that they think everyone should read and read it."

So I ask you guys... what is a book you think everyone should read?

I am very excited that a book I have read is on the Canada Reads long list, and lemme tell you...

Searching for Terry Punchout by Tyler Hellard is a fantastic book and I really hope more people read it.
It's a Man-Feelings book and while that's not usually my bag, it was just SO good.

Checked out SORRY BABY.
Wow.
Pretty heavy, but I really dug it.
A portrait of the aftermath of trauma, but still trying to make it through the days is a MOOD.
Also, man... showing the not fun side of college/uni is not seen enough in film.
Surprise John Carroll Lynch is always nice to see.

Finished DIRTY HEADS by Aaron Dries recently.
As someone who has only dabbled in cosmic horror, this was pretty great.
I really felt for Heath and I just wanted to give him a hug and tell him everything's going to be okay despite the obvious.
Well done.

Watched TWINLESS last night, and idk how to feel about it other than GOOD because it's a really moving/beautiful story which needs to be seen, and I can't really give enough praise to it.
It's just really beautiful.
Three movies in 2 days, all of which are beautiful, one of which is horror.

I'm determined to do several things this year that involve consuming media (books and movies) but with that in mind, I think I also need to output something to counterbalance.

What exactly? IDK.

Burnout is real and I'm still struggling with it, but I'm giving it the ol' Post-Secondary Try.

Watched TRAIN DREAMS and THE PLAGUE last night and the whiplash that ensued is wild.

TRAIN DREAMS is just a guy existing and it's just so beautiful.

THE PLAGUE on the other hand was so intense, with amazing sound design, brilliant performances from the kids, and... Best horror to start the year.

It's a heavy crown we all must bear...
sometimes I’ll make a joke to my wife and she’ll roll her eyes and ask if I’m “gonna post that one on bluesky.” I mean, yes, but her tone is very hurtful

Look, I know this may seem niche but I'm thankful that I live in a country where I can watch the NYE coverage from France and I can partially understand most of it because I had the opportunity to take French Immersion, despite the difference between Quebecois and France French.
