'Mechanistically, acidosis suppressed cytoplasmic activity of ERK, thereby preventing oncogene-induced mitochondrial fragmentation and promoting fused mitochondria. The resulting boost in mitochondrial respiration supported cancer cell adaptations to various metabolic stresses'
Acidosis orchestrates adaptations of energy metabolism in tumors
Malignant tumors are characterized by diverse metabolic stresses, including nutrient shortages, hypoxia, and buildup of metabolic by-products. To understand how cancer cells adapt to such challenges, ...

Bacteria are always going to adapt to antimicrobials. Understanding how they are adapting is crucial to staying one step ahead. This article investigates how a strain of E. coli survived AMP exposure 🦠 🧪 www.jbc.org/article/S002...
Mutations in the essential outer membrane protein BamA contribute to Escherichia coli resistance to the antimicrobial peptide TAT-RasGAP317-326
Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are promising alternatives to classical antibiotics against antibiotic-resistant pathogens. TAT-RasGAP317-326 is an AMP with broad range antibacterial activity, but its m...

Lyme disease is endemic to several parts of the globe including North America. This article looks at vaccinating post infection of the causative agent. 🔬 🦠 journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128/...
A single immunization of Borreliella burgdorferi-infected mice with Vanguard crLyme elicits robust antibody responses to diverse strains and variants of outer surface protein C | Infection and Immunity
Borreliella burgdorferi, the primary causative agent of Lyme disease in North America (1, 2), is the most common tick-borne pathogen in the northern hemisphere (3, 4). The American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine recommends that dogs residing in, or near, endemic regions for Lyme disease be screened yearly for exposure to tick-borne pathogens (5). In 2023, the Companion Animal Parasite Council (CAPC) reported that 465,700 dogs in the United States tested positive for antibodies (Abs) to B. burgdorferi. The actual number of positive tests is much higher as only about 1/3 of test results are cataloged by CAPC. Antibiotic therapy generally results in positive clinical outcomes when canine Lyme disease is diagnosed and treated early (5). However, if untreated, transient intermittent lameness, polyarthritis, and potentially fatal nephritis may develop.
