My dad would have appreciated this. He would have been 100 last weekend. And he lied about his age so he could serve in the Royal Navy in WW2. Dad was an eccentric fellow. But he was always very clear about where he stood on fascism. I suspect he and Ken would have got on famously.

Walking around with $3k in cash, a passport and pills in your pocketbook at all times is a better indicator of illicit activity than a tattoo is. Just saying.

Let’s just grant the possibility these people were going to illegally work in the U.S. for a few weeks. I don’t think you could find any normal human to defend this treatment as proportional. Strip searched, handcuffed, given expired food and dirty mattresses. We’re such a garbage country.

The possibility of abduction by a sovereign and imprisonment abroad is one criterion that separates democracies from dictatorships.

Republicans used to say “undocumented immigrants don’t pay taxes.” Now the IRS is handing their tax data to DHS… So which is it?

Seems like you’d have to pay taxes to even have tax data…

The acting head of the U.S. Internal Revenue Service plans to resign over a new agreement to share the tax data of undocumented immigrants with Homeland Security personnel, the Washington Post reported on Tuesday, citing two people familiar with the situation.

Yup. The institutionalization of cowardice. Fear of everything. And everyone. That said, I think there's a half decent country song in there somewhere.
The skeleton key to understanding reactionary conservatism is quite simple: they are scared, all the time, of everything.
