What we’re witnessing in America is what happens when disordered discourse captures a political party, then the state itself. The Republican Party was the first to fall - abandoning truth for conspiracy, ideology for grievance, and policy for performative outrage.

I think the answer to Michael’s question is - ‘no it’s not (or at least not this year’) - but the diagnosis and policy considerations are very much worth a read.
Is the UK’s electric vehicle target about to fall to pieces? And why might it all hinge on parking in East London?

Holding the door for someone is a common courtesy. Stopping your car + not hitting someone with it while they cross a street is not an act of kindness or courtesy to be praised but the bare minimum of responsibility as a driver. Let's not mistake responsibility for courtesy.
