This week, the 55-person board of governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, comprising members from across the organization’s 19 branches, will convene to make some of its most historically-significant decisions: namely, who should receive special honors at its annual Governors Awards, which will take place this year on Sunday, Nov. 16.
