As Feb ends, a wrap up of work by the HATS team: giving evidence at the essential worker housing inquiry; presenting work at #ICSEI2025; working on multiple industry funded projects on housing and the teacher workforce, testing new data vis; & launching our new course on 'Building education systems'

Final prep for the first class of #EDST5155 Building Education Systems for the trimester. This is the core course in our new 'Education Systems' specialisation in the MEd. Tonight, we look at UNESCO's SDG4 and the policy challenge of designing systems for equitable excellence.

Before the media stories of twins starting kindy, and a new cohort of teachers beginning their careers, I want to draw attention to the infrequently discussed issue of teachers (especially new ones) finding appropriate housing within commuting distance of their schools. Here is a quote from 1956
