Final prep for the first class of #EDST5155 Building Education Systems for the trimester. This is the core course in our new 'Education Systems' specialisation in the MEd. Tonight, we look at UNESCO's SDG4 and the policy challenge of designing systems for equitable excellence.

Before the media stories of twins starting kindy, and a new cohort of teachers beginning their careers, I want to draw attention to the infrequently discussed issue of teachers (especially new ones) finding appropriate housing within commuting distance of their schools. Here is a quote from 1956

Earlier this week I was the keynote for the Australian Secondary Principals Association welcome reception of the Equity in Education Summit in Canberra (National Press Club). A fantastic event bringing together principals' groups from across the country to tackle inequities & develop a path forward.

Fantastic workshop last Friday on 'Geospatial analysis in education systems research'. The BUILDER project team presented on the data infrastructure we have built (or are building) and we explored possibilities for updating and extending the work to foster greater collaboration and research at scale

Giving the new equipment a workout with an interactive map built as part of a Faculty funded collaborative project between Gonski Institute for Education, UNSW City Futures Research Centre, and external partners. This project was the basis for ongoing collaborations and data infrastructure projects.

Excited to have taken delivery of a Mobile Interactive Touchscreen Workstation - part of a Research Infrastructure Scheme grant. This will enable us to work with partners (and graduate students) using our and their datasets to investigate relationships in education, social, and housing data
