NEW: A federal judge in Oregon issued a sweeping rebuke of the Justice Department’s nationwide push to seize state voter rolls, ruling that the department can no longer be presumed to be acting in good faith and warning that its conduct threatens voters and states’ rights.

When you agree to pass 5 of 6 appropriations bills, then you later agree to pass funding for everything that is in the 6th bill except for one agency (ICE) that has already been prefunded in a previous bill, you are giving up every bit of leverage you have and selling out.

All mothers are important, of course, but one of the most important mothers in American history was born on this day in 1784. Nancy Hanks married Thomas Lincoln in 1806. Their second child, born Feb. 12, 1809, was a son they named Abraham.
She died at age 34 in 1818.
