Being autistic can be very expensive. For example, I am very particular about fabrics and how things fit. I cannot bear things that touch my hips, so when I find a top that fits and feels nice, I'll buy loads of them because I'm worried I'll never be able to get another one.

I've been reflecting on my fitness progress this morning. I'm down 90lbs this year. Incredible, really. I've been thinking about how I've managed to do it, and it comes down to routine, sensory seeking, and regulation.

It always blows my mind that my wife can read and speak Hebrew. I only ever hear her speak it once a year during Hanukkah, but it always surprises me that she can pick up the Torah and start speaking in a different language. She learned as a kid and never forgot. Pretty cool.

I've been learning Lightroom this year. Ended up going through old photos and found one of my mams dog. It's her birthday tomorrow, so I'm going to get this printed for her. For a weird-looking dog, she has the most photogenic eyes. Really happy with how this cleaned up!

I turned pretty much every notification off on my phone a few months ago. Honestly, it has had such a positive impact. Less stressed, more present, not constantly on my phone, and getting way more done. My mood has never been better. Not feeling like I need to keep up or do more. You should try it.

As soon as we got off our bus, we could hear the huskies barking and howling in the forest.

They live in the forest and never come indoors. They prefer to sleep outside together. The strongest dogs are at the back for their power, and the smarter dogs are at the front for their decision-making.

I learned a lot about reindeer this week. Contrary to belief, they do not eat candy canes and toffee apples. They eat almost all vegetation, and can smell food a meter under the snow! Their antlers also grow by 2cm a day. I got this really beautiful shot of one resting in the snow.

Lapland is absolutely breathtaking in its beauty everywhere you go. It’s by far the best place I’ve ever been.

Got this awesome shot of a husky today in Lapland. They are such stunning animals!

Lapland is everything I wanted it to be and more. Our hotel is phenomenal. This is right outside of our window. Stunning!

We're off to Lapland in the morning, and I can not wait!

I was just late to a meeting because I failed a CAPTCHA 3 times before joining a Teams call. Since when did they add this as a prerequisite to joining calls?! So bad.

If these weren’t bad enough, I found this one. This is real, by the way.

Every year I do Movember. I’m continuing my to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK. I’ve also set a goal to run 100 miles for the month. I just hit 25 miles this morning, and I’m already regretting my decision 😆

I’d really appreciate anyone who can support my fundraiser: movember.com/m/Conner?mc=60

I’ve had the type of day that can only be improved by putting the Christmas tree up, so that’s exactly what I’ll do.

Hallo!

The #GOV.UKDesignSystem team are looking for feedback on adding rounded corners to buttons, which we think will improve the usability of the component.

You can see and comment on our proposal on GitHub discussions: github.com/alphagov/gov...

Please take 3 mins to feed back.

🙌Danke,
Imran

Folks, I'm looking for a huge favour.

We (Transform Wales) are making some stickers to go with the book. There is one that is screaming out for a very specific style outside of our brand. None of us are graphic designers.

Would anyone be up for helping design it? Will share details via PM.

TIA

Question for #UserResearch

How do you phrase screener questions to identify participants who might need accessibility or communication adjustments?

The aim is to ensure sessions are inclusive and comfortable, without making people feel singled out.

Not finding much online

If I see an advert for a thing, then click the thing, then the thing wants me to install an app. I am categorically not buying the thing. Ever.

Jokingly told the kids to call their nan by her rap name, Tray-Z (she's called Tracy). Now they won't stop. She's not happy. Hasn't been called nan in weeks, much to my amusement.

It can be easy to oversimplify accessibility to things like colour contrast and heading levels. Both are important, but in the wild, much of what we encounter is far more complex. I was reminded of an issue we found while I was at HMRC. A service was using a reference number that started with XI.

I've just sat for ages in the garden, camera on its tripod, patiently waiting for a break in the clouds to catch the first supermoon of the year. It didn't disappoint!

VoiceOver on iOS doesn't have a Welsh voice synthesiser, so Welsh content is announced in English, making it completely inaccessible to Welsh screen reader users. Essentially, Welsh screen reader users who do not speak English will not be able to use any iOS apps. Are there any workarounds?
