I will ha.. strongly dislike your popup when:

- Escape doesn't close it
- Clicking the background doesn't close it
- The close button is sized like this

FYI/seen on the web: arial-label is not an actual attribute.

Also, thanks for the effort and this is where automated testing shines. 🙏🏿

I'm looking forward to move to more EU-based digital products and services. Any experience with specific offerings, or approaches to do this?

Does anyone know of an accessible tool for doing 1 question surveys?

It seems a really simple problem, but all the solutions I’ve found are wildly inaccessible… I’d rather not build one myself if I can avoid it!

Updated the inline collapsible. CSS addition. Improved JavaScript. And variations using the popover-attribute!

My little quest for today was an accessible inline collapsible.

I need it for the extensive introduction to accessibility that I'm writing for inklusivo. And this is how I made it:

Some thoughts on the concept of the "accessibility unicorn". They exist, but there are still some fairy tales to be aware of.

The search for tools...

I'm building a dashboard tool for displaying and tracking accessibility audits and assessments.
What tools would you prefer?

Important factors: accessible and non-us. or maybe open source

Dear developer/manager,

Your accessibility testing tool can indeed find some issues. That's great for finding major barriers and steering a roadmap. Great for awareness as well!

Users and compliance need more than a tool can find. To confirm and conform, you'll need people (educated on this topic)

absolutely nobody: i love that gray text and light gray background you picked

"Interesting. That link is white on white when I hover it."

/me presses button for higher contrast

"And now it's also white when I don't hover it! 🤯"

FYI: A WCAG audit will check your layout at 320px width. That's not because mobile phones go that low by default. It's because people zoom in. You can use a 4k display at 320px width. Max resolution and used resolution are not the same.

It's why I like to talk about low resolution and high resoluti

I'm proud as I've turned years of insight and experience into a model for accessibility. Please read and share: the Scaled Accessibility Model (SAM).

inklusivo | The Scaled Accessibility Model (SAM)
This model defines what needs to be in place to create accessible and inclusive products. It does not matter whether you're aiming for mere compliance or something else entirely. It is a framework for the required processes and resources.

Floating Action Buttons are bad, and what to do instead.

Some thoughts on Floating Action Buttons as I always run into them, their inefficiency and their inaccessible design.

The text field placeholder issue loop (TFPIL):

- The placeholder is light gray. The contrast is too low
- We make it darker: it looks like user input and confuses the user
- We find some magical brightness: information still vanishes when the field gets used
- We stop using placeholders

Checking accessibility with a wcag audit is like doing a fire safety assessment by checking for fires.

AI is only as good as its input.

Feed it crappy div-loaded frontend code, and it will reproduce the same.

Guess who are really good in providing structured content, the type AI likes? Yep, accessibility people!

I don't poison the well. I sow.
Not for AI. But for people

Sow with me.
