Spinosaurus turned 110 this month!
Art of the theropod dinosaur, Spinosaurus. It is largely brown in colour with darker stripes and spots. A large dark spot is on the back of the sail ringed in a lighter colour and many of the stripes on the sail seem to point towards it. The animal is standing in front of a blue rectangle

Wanted to draw something dramatic, Velociraptors seemed the most appropriate subject

This thread is close to my stance:
More automation will always happen. What matters is whether it happens over generations, replacing tedious/dangerous jobs, or if it happens overnight, killing jobs people are still actively training for so billionaires can save money.

When I talk about my opposite and naked hostility toward AI, people will point to emergent technology in the past that disrupted. But the thing is were I there at the time, I would have been an opponent of that too. This does not mean I am anti-technology, or didn't want the tech to develop. 🧵

Why is my book taking so long to finish? Well, one of many reasons are Aetosaurs! They are very complicated to reconstruct AND my book has a lot of them! 😅 But Aetosaurs are awesome!

Aetosaurs are pseudosuchians, and thus related to modern crocodilians

Edmontosaurus
Ink and gouache on Fabriano Medioevalis, 132 × 85 mm.

I think I botched the birds somewhat. 🙈 It's a hot day and both I and the ink (because it dries out on the brush too soon) were fighting.

This piece will be available at auction next week.
Drawing in black ink and a spot of red gouache of an Edmontosaurus standing on a sloping, ferny bank, with its head lowered as though about to feed or to drink. The piece is primarily in silhouette, with the negative shapes of the white of the paper showing through in details such as the dinosaur's markings. A few birds flit about near its head. The Edmontosaurus' rounded, chicken-like comb on its head is the only spot painted in red gouache. The piece is very small and intricate, and is photographed with a penny for scale and the traditional Chinese brush used to draw it.

A Quetzalcoatlus sees the cataclysmic impact that will wipe out three quarters of the animal and plant species on Earth.
Art of the asteroid impact 66 million years ago, there are trees on fire and in the foreground a Quetzalcoatlus looks toward the impact. It is much too late to react but it wouldn't matter
