submitted an article to a fairly prestigious journal thinking that though it fit their focus it wouldn’t appeal based on the author. I’d get a rejection but maybe I’d get good feedback. I’d revise it and send it to the other journal I had in mind which was more likely to run something on this author

I don’t remember how I heard about this album but I scored a copy (also their follow-up!). They both rule. This review is great but TFUL have only ever existed for me as music - they seemed so enigmatic! Interesting to actually read about the people behind it lol

the best part of Frankenstein was when Vic put the breastplate on his creation and I leaned over and said to my wife (who laughed loudly) “oh he made iron man.”

My favorite hometown parking garage is being torn down days after XMAS.

It has been there since I was a kid, and if you drive to the top after hours it has great views of downtown Jefferson City.

To quote The Boss: everything dies, baby, that's a fact. Even parking garages with structural issues.

Question for lit bsky: France’s Ellen Watkins Harper’s poem “Words for the Hour” has an 1871 date attributed to it because it was published in the volume POEMS that year. In the Feminist Press edition of her work the footnote says “obvs written during Civil War.” Any verification for that??
