That's true, too. Hyrule Castle, Death Mountain, the land of the Zoras, Kakariko and so on can change visually with tech and art direction while keeping their identity. That's probably not exactly what you had in mind, but (to me at least) how the location "feels" familiar is even more important.

The Zeldas and some spin offs playing in Hyrule. You get the same world, sometimes in different times, sometimes in other dimensions (LttP had an Upside Down before it was cool and the boring again πŸ˜‰).

I need it, too (at least I think so πŸ˜‰). Honestly, this is one of the games in the current news cycle I am looking forward to the most. It looks like a dream game of past-me, and I can’t wait to get to play it. Thank you for sticking with it, despite everything. πŸ™

If it’s by AdHoc, sure, better check. Others seem to have had no issue getting this right. 🀷

I guess that hits the nail on the head. Let’s hope they do the right thing and save some community trust.

Them outing the β€œcensorship warning” were nobody thought to look is another thing. I believe them when they say it was an honest mistake. Just make it right.

Nothing to be confused about. That’s what happened.

Was it a good call? I kind of doubt it, but it was their call.

Love that for you, preordered the hardcover a while ago and feeling even better about that now.

Congratulations!

Bloody hell, a good review of Super Nintendo in the Times.

"The upside of MacDonald’s standing is that you won’t find anyone, I don’t think, with a better insight into the nuts and bolts of these games... Here is a book bursting with love."

In Super Nintendo, Keza MacDonald explores the history of the Japanese company that gave us Super Mario, PokΓ©mon and so much more

It’s beautiful, well done!

I hope we get to hear whether AdHoc actually saved money by self-censoring and only producing one version (and I hope they don’t). Sure, the potential market for a 16 rated release might be larger than 18+, but did that seem to hurt their PC sales (where it has the 18+ rating)?
January 30, 2026 at 4:05 PM
This is entirely AdHoc’s (strange) decision, in order to avoid the 18 age rating, like Cyberpunk for example has on Switch.

Curious as it is 18+ on PC and the Switch has very robust parental controls, too.

They probably thought they’d make more money this way. Curious to see how that works out.

I’m a bit surprised at this, but that might be because my first playthrough was after they published the final patch.

I did not encounter any problems and really enjoyed the game. Maybe given Larian games a few years to mature is the way to go.

And available now for everyone is this extended (11000+ word) look at Resident Evil Village, covering everything from weapon feel to character assassinations of varying types and the pointlessness of decorative corpses:

We have that already. USA might informally rejoin post-fascism. Or not.

Oh right, there was another Aliens game at the time, but I never got to play that and it’s been a while so it slipped my mind.

I bet you are the leading provider of childhood flashbacks around here. Thank you. ☺️

I can hear that title screen (C64 version). Cool game, especially considering the successful (IMHO) movie adaption. To me, only Aliens did that better.
January 19, 2026 at 7:31 PM
I have never even heard of the title until Sasha’s post. It looks and sounds very interesting, though.

Please don’t feel pressured, you just immediately came to mind. ☺️

I know who likes (Power) dolls! Maybe @kimimithegameeatingshemonster.com can help inspire a future fan translator. ☺️

Germans say β€œbei MΓΌll gilt das Verursacherprinzip”, which is probably something like β€œpolluter pays principle applies to waste”.

Please don’t ship anywhere but dispose at the point of origin and make sure to not produce more.

Thank you. πŸ™

Yes. πŸ˜‰

Both sound great, but if you only have time or capacity for one, I’d vote for the article format.

Very nice 😊 Another candidate for me would be Evil Otto from Berzerk. I was so terrified as a little kid whenever he showed up. Unfortunately people would mistake him for a smiley. πŸ™ˆ

The Whitewings are so cute. 😊 Also Tharja is my kind of psycho.

As far as games go, my favorite is probably Fates, which I played together with my son and it sparked his love for strategy games. It’s also a great game, though.

Oh nice! Thanks for the heads up. Shipping to Germany was a bit pricey but whatever. Always feels good to have gamers visible as decent human beings.
