Between yesterday’s Ivanhoe by Sir Walter Scott and today’s Joseph Ritson entry I am covering the foundation of the modern Robin Hood. #RobinHood
31 Days of #RobinHood Books, Day 21. Robin Hood - A Collection of Poems, Songs and Ballads Relative to That Celebrated English Outlaw edited by Joseph Ritson originally published in 1795 transformed the legend. My 1884 edition seen here with a 1794 garland and Cambridge’s 2-vol Ritson reprint.

One of Yorkshire's best museums is at risk of closure.

Add your voice to this consultation to share why #AbbeyHouseMuseum needs to stay for future generations of curious families and Victorianists.

31 Days of #RobinHood Books, Day 22. Robin Hood’s Garland - 1794 edition. There were a lot of ballad collections called Garlands. This one came from the year before Ritson and has 27 ballads. The 1st is Birth, Breeding, Valour & Marriage (with Clorinda) and the last is The Valiant Knight / epitaph

Hypocritical twunt who enabled her behaviour for years suddenly realises MRO was a toxic racist twat all along.

Yes. We all knew. I spotted in 2021
I told you. I told you what MRO and her cadre are all about. Totally off any rails at this point.
Hey, folks, it is possible to criticize Israel without being antisemitic. This isn’t how to do it. And if you’re a supposed herald of a more diverse, equitable, critical, and just medieval studies and you’re sharing sh!t like this, you’ll forgive me for doubting your sincerity.

So glad to see so many medievalists are finally seeing a certain medievalist for what she actually is. Even those of you who once rode with her and applauded as she attacked and smeared me and others for disagreeing with her dreck. (Looking at you @profgabriele.com and @lollardfish.bsky.social) 👍
