We will rerun the pass predictions for the upcoming #SSTV activity scheduled for 03/10/25 - 06/10/25 to see if this reboost of the #ISS has also affected the passes over the #GX4WAW clubhouse in #IO81qk

Today the South Bristol Amateur Radio Club were at the former Midsomer Norton South railway station operating #GB0SDR as part of Railways on the Air marking the 200th anniversary of the first passenger train service

We had great fun and members will be back on site tomorrow

The next ARISS SSTV weekend will start on Fri. October 3. Series 29 will be 6 images related to Space Week!

The event will take a break for a scheduled contact Saturday, see the full schedule in the graphic.
The Space Week SSTV Event, Series 29, begins on October 3, 2025, featuring 6 images transmitted from the ISS on 145.800 MHz using PD120 encoding. Transmissions occur in two windows for a school event, with tentative times: - **First Window**: Oct 3-4, Start Fri 14:00 UTC (10:00 AM Eastern), End Sat 10:00 UTC (6:00 AM Eastern). - **Second Window**: Oct 4-6, Start Sat 11:00 UTC (7:00 AM Eastern), End Mon TBD. The same images will be sent in both windows.

The installation of HamTV is on the ISS work schedule for next week. Successful completion could mean test transmissions going out beginning on Tuesday.

The image shows a HamTV unit, part of the amateur television system on the ISS, with a schedule for installation on Tue, 29-July, from 07:55 to 09:55 UTC (3:55 to 5:55 AM ET). A successful install should have the unit active and transmitting a carrier. Reception reports are requested via social media. HamTV uses MPEG-2 video with DVB-S protocol, transmitting on 2395 MHz (2.395 GHz), primarily for educational contacts. The SSTV Series 28 Recap highlights a successful event with participation from all continents. Key points include: - Over 8,650 images submitted, up from Series 27, with 3,300+ users contributing. - 47% of submissions were from educators or students. - Image submissions by continent: Europe 42%, Asia 23%, North America 12%, South America 8%, Oceania 4%, Africa 1.3%, Antarctica 0.01%, Not provided 10%. - Awards certificates can be submitted to ARISS-USA.org/ARISS_SSTV, with a deadline a few days after the event. The image provides an update on the ARISS (Amateur Radio on the International Space Station) radio status as of July 21, 2025. - **Columbus Module Radio**: Configured as a crossband voice repeater with a downlink of 437.800 MHz and an uplink of 145.990 MHz (PL 67 Hz). - **Service Module Radio**: Configured for simplex packet operations (APRS) with an up and downlink frequency of 145.825 MHz. - **Casual Crew Activity**: Unscheduled amateur radio contacts may occur, and listeners can expect to hear the crew on the crossband voice repeater. Yesterday, ARISS-USA filed a petition to the FCC to deny AST & Science’s application to operate in the 430-440 MHz spectrum.

The image discusses a petition from ARISS-USA to the FCC to deny AST & Science's application to use the 70 cm amateur radio band (430.00 to 440.00 MHz). ARISS-USA argues that their operations, including those on the ISS and SpaceX Dragon, rely on this band, and AST's use could interfere with communications, especially for deep space missions to the Moon and Mars. They highlight the potential for interference with their ground stations, including the Bluebird network, and the ISS crew's communications. The petition is signed by Frank Bauer, KA3ADO, ARISS-USA Executive Director.

The SSTV Series 28 is currently underway, focusing on the Soyuz-Apollo mission and STS-51F, which pioneered SSTV on Shuttles. ISS transmissions run until July 20, 2025, ending around 6:00 PM UTC (2:00 PM ET). The frequency is 145.800 MHz FM, with 12 images transmitted using PD120 mode. Decodes can be sent to ARISS-USA.org/ARISS_SSTV, and submitting to the gallery with "I Agree" opts you in for an award certificate. Submissions for awards must be within 72 hours post-transmission, with certificates emailed—check your spam folder!
