Potatoes aren’t very interesting. But potatoes don’t claim they can think for me, or make art for me. Potatoes don’t cater to talentless dullards resentful of anyone who creates something people like. And when potatoes use water we can at least eat them.

More Super Bowl ads about potatoes, please.
Some context from that Lays ad.

People are very stupid and don’t realize that potato chips are literally made out of potatoes.

That’s why they were parading around a potato in that ad like it’s the fucking Rosetta Stone.

Lays missed the part where the daughter sells the farm a year later to a Chinese cooperative network disguised as a red hat wearing “patriot” duped into being the face of saving American farms.

@akrherz.bsky.social ok, here's a question if you are willing to query the database.

What is the lowest observed dewpoint at KSAT. 21° this afternoon felt Sahara like.

No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientist—because the person felt she did didn’t deserve the recognition.

Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...

She made key contributions to US cold-war science despite facing huge barriers as a Black woman.

Very - "there's a cooler with gatorade and some granola bars at mile 32 - if you miss that go ask Farmer John with rusty '78 International Harvester at the gate if you can fill up your bottle at the well" vibe here.

Chip Roy is getting out MAGA'd in a primary here.... he's desperate to get dear leader's blessings again.

Kinda hard to show ID or even talk when the first response is pepper spray and a gang tackle.
Chip Roy: "As someone who carries a weapon in TX, if I'm in front of law enforcement or if I get stopped, I tell them that. I tell them that I've got a concealed carry permit. I show them my ID. I tell them where the weapon is bc that's what we're supposed to do. That's not what I think I saw here"

My brother has been doing this in Chicago for the past several months. Married and father of a 9 year old. This activity should not be a risk to life and limb.
It's worth remembering that a lot of the people out doing ICE observation work are middle-aged moms and dads like the woman who was murdered today.

Timing the mowing of lawn and spreading fertilizer in South Central Texas during a drought is an art form, and I absolutely freaking nailed it this afternoon. Literally tossing weed and feed as the early drops started to fall.

Entry-level meteorologist positions (I think 40 of them) are posted! I promise the NWS is still an amazing place to work and full of wonderful, passionate people. And we are going to need more great people, with all kinds of skill sets.
NWS is hiring! Are you interested in working for an agency that uses science and technology to protect lives and property? Additional mission-critical positions just posted on usajobs.gov, including Meteorologist (1340) openings. Many are great opportunities for first-time hires. More coming soon!

I truly feel for the staff at NWS San Antonio #ewx . They did everything they could leading up to the events of the past 48 hours and continue to do so for the ongoing storms. They do not deserve any arm chair reviews or questions on their readiness or abilities.

June 3rd, 1980:

A cyclic supercell spawned a family of seven tornadoes in Grand Island, Nebraska. Four of the tornadoes were significant (F2+). The circulations moved on complex and winding paths, and three of the twsters were anticyclonic. Five people were killed.
