I'l went over it on stream already but if you stop for one second and consider that the Steam Deck is still at best over 400 bucks and the best one over 600 bucks and the new Steam Machine is STRONGER then that then it will cost around 600 to 700 bucks so might as well grab a PC at that point.

when a certain high-profile author was revealed to be a fucking monster, I had to reckon with the fact that I found his books at a very formative time, and that his influence will always be part of me. I have to carry that. It sucks! But it doesn't behoove us to pretend monsters can't make art too.

So it’s fascinating to see folks say “they were compensated fairly” repeatedly on this occasion where we don’t even have the voice actors credited.

The argument I'm hearing about it is "the voice actors got paid for it so it's all good"
We don't know how much they got paid, or if they get royalties every time those lines get used.

Heads up for folx playing Arc Raiders: Embark has openly stated (in an interview with GamesRadar+), that the game uses the same AI voice tech as The Finals, and the CEO has talked about using AI to generate 3D models from YouTube rips.

Not to be the fun police but I do hope people know that Arc Raiders does use generative AI for voice acting, and by supporting the game you're letting higher-ups know that this is an okay practice.
