As one of the people who got traction off the warning about possible hexachloroethane, i want to boost this as well.
It looks like they're currently using standard green smoke and riot control chemicals.
You still should not breathe these, but they aren't *quite* as dangerous.

My group was able to recover a spent canister from a green smoke grenade in Minneapolis. We now confirm with physical evidence that it was a green signaling grenade.
Please don't spread rumors about hexachloroethane or nerve agents.
